May we have to pay to admire the mystical silhouette of Ibiza Es Vedra at sunset from its mirador? The Sant Josep de sa Talaia ayutamiento is considering introducing a fee for access to this iconic spot. A idea born while every summer by visitors in search of the perfect shot.

Faced with the massive influx of tourists, Mayor Vicent Roig is considering a radical solution to regulate entry: charge for access. According to him, “if something costs us a little, we value it more”. In other words, putting a price tag on the experience would not only limit over-visiting, but also better preserve the site.

A way to protect the island and make money?

This decision is not just a question of control: it also aims to relieve congestion in the Cala d’Hort parking lot, which has become a veritable battleground in high season. Saturated with vehicles and confronted with repeated nuisances (noise, garbage…), the owner of the site ended up closing the access, forcing visitors to park anarchically in the surrounding area.

The current project takes up an initiative left in abeyance by the previous administration. It wanted to structure the paths leading to the belvedere and introduce regulated access via the parking lot. If implemented, this will be done in agreement with the site’s legal owners.

Let’s see how Ibiza residents and lovers will react to pay for one of the most beautiful panoramas. One thing’s for sure: on the white island, even the sun could soon come at a price.
