The legendary Sa Trinxa Ibiza beach bar can no longer host DJs

the legendary chiringuito Sa Trinxa Ibiza has been forced to stop playing live music. The law is clear: even the most chill DJs sets are no longer allowed in the Ses Salines Natural Park.

It’s the end of an era for Ibiza’s soundtrack. The legendary Sa Trinxa Ibiza, a bohemian gem on Ses Salines beach, has been forced to end its DJs sessions, those suspended moments where the beats mingled with the lapping of the waves and cocktails served with your feet in the sand. The blame lies with an old law from 2005—the PRUG—which formally prohibits any festive activity within the boundaries of the natural park. Parties, concerts, events… everything is affected. Even the hushed good vibes of Sa Trinxa.

No more DJs in Sa Trinxa Ibiza

On social media, the message hit like a shot of tequila that didn’t go down well: “Due to circumstances beyond our control, Sa Trinxa is suspending its DJ sessions in accordance with the natural park’s regulations. However, we will continue to play music.” Translation: the atmosphere continues, but with a recorded soundtrack, far from the live groove that has made the place famous since the 1970s.

An online petition with more than 5,000 signatures

That was all it took to spark a wave of indignation. More than 5,000 signatures were collected in a few hours on an online petition to save this musical haven. Defenders of the spot speak of an “authentic place” and a “right to cultural diversity.” Because in Ibiza, Sa Trinxa is not just a beach bar: it is an institution, a totem, an experience.

But for the Balearic authorities, the environment is non-negotiable. The government insists that protecting wildlife, flora, and the natural environment takes precedence, even if it means turning down the volume where it was loudest. At Sa Trinxa, the sunset will always be the same color, but it will be without a DJ.
