A footbridge may soon link two of the most famous beaches in Ibiza

A footbridge between two of the most famous beaches of Ibiza? That’s the aim of the Eivissa Town Hall, which is working on an elevated footbridge that will connect these two emblematic beaches. An ecological promenade with breathtaking views of the Mediterranean, designed for pedestrians and cyclists alike.

Lovers of Ibiza will soon be able to enjoy a brand new walk with their feet (almost) in the water. The Eivissa Ajuntament has launched a tender for an ambitious project. A footbridge linking two famous beaches of Ibiza : the districts of Ses Figueretes and Playa d’en Bossa along the coast. The aim: to offer a panoramic path that preserves the sand and rocks, while guaranteeing a fluid and pleasant experience.

The project, estimated to cost one million euros, has received a budget of 153,000 euros from the sustainable tourism tax. This infrastructure, which will be seamlessly integrated into the landscape, will be built using materials with a low environmental impact, particularly ecological wood. This choice will also minimize maintenance requirements. The three meter wide footbridge will be raised to avoid being submerged by waves in bad weather. Solar-powered lighting will complete the design to ensure optimal visibility at night.

A perfect way to link two famous beaches on foot or by bike

The future promenade will be a natural extension of the existing Figueretes promenade, but without direct access to the sea. Designed for pedestrians and cyclists, it will offer a pleasant alternative to the road, with breathtaking views of the Mediterranean.

The project is still in the study phase, and the City Council must obtain the necessary permits from the Ministry of the Sea before construction can begin. This administrative challenge does not seem to worry Blanca Hernández, councillor for public works, who is confident about the outcome of the negotiations. If all goes according to plan, this pedestrian bridge could become one of Ibiza’s new must-sees.
