A BREATH OF FRESH AIR AND CREATIVITY IS BLOWING THROUGH THE EMBLEMATIC MONTESOL HOTEL IN IBIZA. AFTER YEARS OF RENOVATION, IT IS BEING REBORN THIS SUMMER AS THE MONTESOL EXPERIMENTAL, WITH A WES ANDERSON-STYLE DECOR.
This historical place opened its doors in 1933 on Vara de Rey and was the pioneer of hotels on Ibiza. Once a meeting place for artists, singers and celebrities, the Montesol enjoyed its heyday from the 50s to the 90s. Legends as Pink Floyd or Orson Welles have visited this place classified as a site of cultural interest by UNESCO. The hotel has been brilliantly restored by architect Dorothée Meilichzon and is now called Montesol Experimental Ibiza.
Graduate from the Rhode Island School of Design, she’s behind the Experimental Cocktail Club in London and the Hotel Paradis in Paris. To reimagine Montesol, she created a color palette inspired by Ayurvedic principles, dressing the rooms in printed fabrics and light wood furniture. Her selection of objects, combining design and craftsmanship, create a unique atmosphere worthy of a Wes Anderson film.
GLORY OF YESTERYEAR, RETRO DECOR AND PANORAMIC ROOFTOP
The hotel is a must on the island, for a stay, a dinner or a drink on the rooftop. The view from the rooftop is breathtaking… Add to this charming picture a warm welcome and a tempting Mediterranean-inspired menu (ceviche, angus, fresh fish and tataki) and you have one of our favourites of the summer.
For an even more intimate experience, we recommend reserving the table d’hôte for 15 people in the troglodytic nook… A sublime holiday and pleasure spot right in the heart of the old town. A perfect place for wandering the streets of Dalt Vila, browsing the decoration shops and fashion stores (as Ruta, which is located on the same square) or trying out the island’s best restaurants.
