Uber, the popular taxi service, is finally coming to the island on Wednesday 29 November. The announcement was confirmed by Felipe Fernández Aramburu, Managing Director of Uber in Spain and Portugal.
The taxi revolution is underway in Ibiza with the arrival of the Uber service (according to information from maninsanan.com) ! An initial fleet of 14 cars will be available from wednesday 29 November, offering users two transport options via the Uber app: Uber Comfort and Uber Van, designed to accommodate 4 and 6 passengers respectively. This varied choice will meet everyone’s needs, whether they’re travelling solo, with friends or in a group.
But the good news doesn’t stop there. Existing taxi drivers will also have the opportunity to register on the Uber platform, allowing them to accept rides via the app while charging their usual rates. In exchange for using Uber technology, a 12% commission will be charged.
Competitive prices
Uber does not want to be seen as a threat, but rather as an ally of the taxi industry. Existing taxi drivers will be welcomed with financial incentives, receiving €150 for their first 25 journeys, with a €300 bonus if they refer another driver.

Fares for the new services are also competitive. Uber Comfort will be charged at €0.17 per minute and €0.94 per kilometre, while Uber Van’s base fare will be €0.3 per minute plus €1.50 per kilometre. Transparent fares for journeys with no surprises.
Launch announced in Formentera and Menorca
Ibiza marks the second chapter in the Uber adventure in the Balearic Islands, after Mallorca last June. With a fleet of 50 cars, Mallorca quickly adopted the service, registering 20,000 users on its first day.
Fernández Aramburu also announced plans to extend the services to Formentera and Menorca, although no specific launch dates were given. With Uber in Ibiza, journeys on the island paradise promise to be more convenient, flexible and modern than ever.
